Reporting to the Foreman or Project Supervisor, the HDD Locator is responsible for operating the equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.  The HDD Locator must also clean, maintain, and secure all equipment.  Equipment may include and not limited to Subsite or DCI locating equipment.

Position Qualifications:

  • Great degree of manual dexterity
  • Preferred 2+ years of locating experience in underground utility construction
  • Class 5 Alberta driver’s license preferred with a clean drivers abstract
  • Can communicate in English (speak, read, and write)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.  Good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple, and changing priorities.  Detail oriented with an aptitude for metrics
  • Strong drive to get projects / work completed. High integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel domestically as required
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and in awkward and tight spaces

Reporting Relationship:

  • The HDD Locator reports directly to a Foreman or Project Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required
  • Ensure equipment is safe and secure at end of shift
  • Advise the Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
  • Assessing ground conditions of each location
  • Load/unload and transport construction materials
  • Participate in daily hazard assessments, tailgate meetings and company safety meetings
  • Maintain a positive public image of the company with appropriate personal conduct and maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional and courteous manner
  • Operate basic hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, etc
  • Direct operators of construction equipment with alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to conform to location needs
  • Locate drill beacon housing to direct HDD operator direction of drilling
  • Assist with the jetting procedure 
  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting to the Foreman or Project Supervisor, the HDD Operator is responsible for operating the equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.  The HDD Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment. Equipment may include and is not limited JT10 – JT60.

Position Qualifications:

  • Great degree of manual dexterity
  • 2+ years of experience in underground utility construction 
  • Class 1 Alberta driver’s license preferred; or any class with air endorsement and clean drivers abstract
  • Can communicate in English (speak, read, and write)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.  Good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple, and changing priorities.  Detail oriented with an aptitude for metrics
  • Strong drive to get projects / work completed. High integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality is essential

  • Conducts pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections, maintenance checks and completes daily Field Level Hazard Assessments for all activities.
  • Solid understanding of the OH&S legislation pertaining to construction
  • Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required
  • Ensure equipment is safe and secure at end of shift
  • Advise the Fleet Manager of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
  • Participate in routine maintenance
  • Practice workplace safety
  • Loading and unloading of equipment
  • Assessing ground conditions of each location
  • Working with ground personnel in locations and process of conduit and vault installation 
  • Place mats when needed
  • Mix mud / polymer when applicable 
  • Perform general construction activities, when applicable
  • Aid in the jetting process
  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting to the Foreman or Project Supervisor, the Hydrovac Operator is responsible for operating the equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.  The Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment.  Equipment may include and is not limited to Rival T7 or T10, Tornado F3 or F4.

Position Qualifications:

  • Great degree of manual dexterity
  • 2+ years of experience in construction or utility industry
  • Class 1 or 3 Alberta driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
  • Min 500 hours in hydrovac operation preferred 
  • Can communicate in English (speak, read, and write)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.  Good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple, and changing priorities.  Detail oriented with an aptitude for metrics
  • Strong drive to get projects / work completed. High integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel domestically as required
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and in awkward and tight spaces

  • Aid in the jetting process
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Foreman or Project Supervisor, the Operator is responsible for operating the equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.  The Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment. Equipment may include and is not limited to backhoe, rubber tire mini track hoe, tow cat, plow cat and skid steer.

Position Qualifications:

  • Great degree of manual dexterity
  • 2+ years of experience in construction or utility industry
  • Class 5 Alberta driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
  • Min. 500 hours preferred 
  • Min 2500 hours in plow cat preferred 
  • Can communicate in English (speak, read, and write)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.  Good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple, and changing priorities.  Detail oriented with an aptitude for metrics
  • Strong drive to get projects / work completed. High integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality is essential

  • Fine grading and finishing
  • Sloping and banking, backfilling, excavating, sub-grade excavating, trenching, material handling
  • Practicing proper soil seperation (Top soil, clay, sand)
  • Working with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of conduit and vault installation 
  • Perform general construction activities, when applicable
  • Other duties as assigned ie: Filling in on other crews when necessary (Jetting, Plow, Install)

Reporting to the Foreman or Project Supervisor, the Labourer is responsible for general labour duties assisting Operators, Hydrovac Operators, Jetting Crews, and Flagging in a service-orientated environment.

Position Qualifications:

  • Great degree of manual dexterity.
  • Prefer 2+ years of experience in construction.
  • Class 5 Alberta driver’s license and clean drivers abstract.
  • Experience operating equipment an asset.
  • Can communicate in English (speak, read, and write)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.  
  • Good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple, and changing priorities.  
  • Detail oriented with an aptitude for metrics.
  • Strong drive to get projects / work completed.
  • High integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel domestically as required
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and in awkward and tight spaces

Reporting Relationship:

  • The Labourer reports directly to the Foreman or Project Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Unload and transport construction materials.
  • Provide manual labour assistance on various tasks and assignments which may include but is not limited to; hand exposing existing buried lines, hand digging trenches, painting and marking up an area, laying cable.
  • Assist heavy equipment operators, hydrovac operators, foreman and supervisors.
  • Assist in initial setup and cleanup of sites.
  • Assist in aligning conduit during installation.
  • Operator ancillary equipment – ie: ditcher, skid steer.
  • Participate in daily hazard assessments, tailgate meetings and company safety meetings.
  • Maintain a positive public image of the company with appropriate personal conduct and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional and courteous manner.
  • Operate basis hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, etc.
  • Direct operators of construction equipment with alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to conform to location needs.
  • Assist with the jetting procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Reporting to the Foreman or Project Supervisor, the Utility Line Locator is responsible for identifying and marking the location of
underground utilities using electronic locating equipment to identify
underground gas, electric, water, sewer, telecommunications, and fibre optic lines, to prevent damage during excavation and construction activities. This role ensures public safety, regulatory compliance, and protection of infrastructure in accordance with Alberta One-Call (Utility Safety Partners) regulations and company standards.

Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in related field is an asset.)  
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of underground utility locating techniques and equipment (preferred)
  • Understanding of Alberta One-Call regulations and utility safety standards (asset)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skill.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively with no supervision.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.  
  • Abilitiy to work safely in and around roadways, construction sites, and residential areas.  

 Requirements:

Reporting Relationship:

  • The Utility Line Locator reports directly to a Foreman or Project Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Use electronic locating equipment to identify underground gas, electric, water, sewer, telecommunications, and fiber optic lines.
  • Accurately mark utility locations using industry-standard colour codes and paint/flags.
  • Interpret utility maps, drawings, and as-built plans. 
  • Understanding of IFC drawings as well as how to identify property lines and set alignment for drills and plows.
  • Document findings using digital mapping systems and complete required reports.
  • Communicate clearly with contractors, excavators, property owners and project managers regarding site conditions and safety requirements.  
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) regulations.
  • Maintain and calibrate locating equipment and company vehicle.
  • Work outdoors in various weather (heat, cold, rain, snow) and terrain conditions across Alberta.
  • Outdoor fieldwork in urban, rural, and industrial environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
